It’s been about six months since I got my iPhone, so I figure it’s time to revise the must-have app list. I’m not going to list all the apps I have installed, just the ones I’d recommend to a new iPhone owner (Luke, I’m looking at you. Congrats!)
The list is as follows (prices are as of 13th March, 2009):
- Currency (free)
- DomainScout (free)
- eBay Mobile (free) (official app this time!)
FTP On The Go($12.99 AUD, stricken from the list… poor value for money)- Google Earth (free)
- Google Mobile App (free)
- iSSH ($5.99 AUD)
- Koi Pond ($1.19 AUD) (ok, this one’s not really a must-have… but it’s relaxing)
- Live Poker (free)
- Midomi (free)
- Ocarina ($1.19 AUD) (by Smule, they do really nicely made apps)
- OzWeather ($2.49 AUD) (better for us Aussies than the Yahoo one, comes from BoM)
- reMovem ($4.99 AUD) (I mainly bought this one for my wife…)
- SnapTell (free) (like Midomi, but for books and DVD covers, etc.)
- Tweetie ($3.99 AUD) (yes, Twitter is all the rage right now, so get this and follow @japh.)
- Units (free)
- Wikipanion (free)
- WordPress (free)
- Zenbe Lists ($3.99 AUD) (You’ll need to create an account at http://lists.zenbe.com/)
- Zen Bound ($5.99 AUD) (an AMAZING game!)
So that’s the update in alphabetical order, if you know of any other must-haves, let me know!

Thanks Japh! I’m going to have fun spending my $50 app-store voucher tonight. Much appreciated.
Tweetie and Zenbe Lists aren’t free.
I like my SolFree and my 4 year old love Bubbles LOL! I’ve also got wurdle and Tris to play and Shopper for my grocery lists.
Congrats Luke
Zenbe Lists isn’t free?? It used to be! I’ll update that…
Also, I didn’t say Tweetie was free did I? A number of apps in the list aren’t free, but they’re all worth the $, I reckon
You made the effort to point out that iSSH free so I thought you were implying that the remainder were free. It’s cool though, I have installed quite a few from this list.
Ah, yes… good point! I might see if I can put current AUD beside the apps. Would be interesting to see at a later point too, if prices change
Nice blog…
Zenbe lists is a great app (not free, but worth it). It’s cool because it syncs with the non-mobile web app. I use it to keep track of blog post ideas when they strike. I can add to the list when I’m at my computer, or when I’m out on the road.
